Overseas Car Shipping FAQs
Here’s everything you need to know about shipping your vehicle overseas.
What is Roll-On Roll-Off? (also known as ro-ro)
Roll-on roll-off is the most common form of overseas vehicle shipping. The car is loaded onto the vessel under deck on a ship specifically reserved for vehicle freight forwarding.
What if I Want My Car Shipped in a Container?
We offer a container service for car shipping. This includes special ramps to ensure your vehicle is carefully loaded in place and strapping to keep it safe and secure inside the container.
Can You Collect My Car?
We can arrange collection from any private address or UK dealership and delivery to the port of departure. Our transporters and drivers treat your vehicle with expert care.
What Do You Require From Me?
All we need from you is copies of the car’s V5 registration document and the purchase invoice.
Will My Car Be Insured?
Insurance is optional but advisable as the car will not be covered if marine insurance is not taken.
We offer two insurance policies to our customers:
The All Risks option is our fully comprehensive policy for vehicles under 10 years old only. This covers all eventualities such as loss or damage to the vehicle. There is a minimum excess of £250 or 1.5% (whichever is highest) of the value of the vehicle on each claim. The excess also applies to personal effects and commercial cargo etc.
Our Total Loss policy is for vehicles over 10 years old or clients looking for a basic package. This covers loss of the vehicle, i.e. if it were to be destroyed or stolen. There is a minimum excess of £250 or 1.5% (whichever is highest) of the value of the vehicle on each claim. The excess also applies to personal effects and commercial cargo etc.
