Are you a car aficionado on the lookout for your next event? Whether you’re a classic collector or an avid viewer, there’s a multitude of places you can enjoy some stunning vehicles. From Goodwood Festival in Sussex to Monaco’s Grand Prix, these popular occasions blend roaring atmospheres with history and sophistication. We’ve put together our top picks of car shows and races from across the world – read on to find out more.

UK: Goodwood Festival of Speed

Over in West Sussex, where the thrill of speed meets aristocratic elegance, we couldn’t miss Goodwood Festival off the list! Experience the glamorous side of motoring in these country house gardens, where you can view a range of motorsport vehicles, from cars to bikes, powering up the ultimate hill climb – and meet their drivers too. You might even see an air display or two if you’re lucky.

Monaco: Grand Prix

Since 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix has been testing auto racing car drivers to the max. If you’re one of the many Formula One fans out there, this isn’t one to be missed. Watch the pros navigate round a plethora of twists and turns, up and down perilous hills, and even through a tunnel. The circuit is extremely narrow and tight, so you’re sure to remain on the edge of your seat. Usually occurring on the last weekend of May, it’s a great way to kick off your spring and summer festivities.

America: Monterey Car Week

Throughout August in California, the Monterey area hosts a week of spectacular events, culminating in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This has probably been the most prestigious classic car event of the globe since 1950 – here, you’ll find pre- and post-war collector vehicles, and the Road Race sponsored by the Sports Car Club of America. Away from the track, you can indulge in a spot of golf, followed by some fancy cocktails and fine dining.

Finland: Grand Prix of Rallying

Continuing the summer theme, from July, Central Finland hosts its ‘Grand Prix of Rallying’. Since the late fifties, modified road cars have raced across multi-surface gravel roads, attracting thousands of eager spectators. Known as the fastest event in the World Rally Championship, you’re sure to get a thrill from this race, with its array of sizeable jumps and blind crests.

Motorclassica show in Melbourne

Australia: Motorclassica

Uniting classic car and motorcycle enthusiasts alike, the Motorclassica in Melbourne is a four-day festival on the other (more exotic) side of the world. Starting off with a road rally, you can engage your vehicle passion throughout a variety of activities at the Royal Exhibition Building. You might even get the chance to test drive a classic car from the past and sample some Australian food truck delicacies.

Germany: 24 Hours of Nürburgring

If touring and endurance is your bag, then make sure you mark a space in your calendar for this event in central Germany. Over 24 hours, hundreds of cars race round the north loop of the Nürburgring, with a lap length of over 25 km! Since the seventies, this track has been termed ‘The Green Hell’, and one of the world’s toughest races – it really is the ultimate mix of stunning scenery and non-stop action.

Italy: Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’Este

Italy isn’t just about the food and the romance – in the spectacular surroundings of Lake Como, you’ll discover a classic car event like no other. Taking place at the Grand Hotel, car lovers can embrace an assortment of automobile culture, compete with other owners of vintage vehicles, and extend their connections. While you’re here, you might even want to explore the shores on a picturesque drive, or take a break from motoring and have a relaxing amble.

Mexico: La Carrera Panamericana

Are you an adrenaline junkie? Then the Mexican ‘Pan-American Race’ will add a sprinkle of excitement to your standard classic car event. Every October, watch your favourite vehicles from 1940-1965 race nearly 2,000 miles across the country, in what was once known as one of the world’s most dangerous routes. And, to bring yourself back down to Earth, why not end your trip with a beach visit in Cancún, or an explore around Mexico City?
